Bonsai
In 2017 my love for horticulture and the Colorado wilderness gave new expression in the form of acute interest in Bonsai. As an art form, Bonsai parallels the performance of music. Any Bonsai tree is only in its current state of iteration only for a limited amount of time. Just as a tree continually grows and develops and is in a state of constant change, so is the interpretation of a piece of music which expresses as a singular thought during a performance, but than continues on its path, searching for its ultimate potential.
In Bonsai, I focus on Rocky Mountain native species, mostly working with Yamadori, prioritizing sound bonsai horticulture matched with custom ceramic vessels produced individually for each tree.
